Gilbert H. Potter, 86, of Paxton, died Friday, September 26th in the Jewish Healthcare Center, Worcester.
His wife of 35 years, Alma (Oslund) Potter, died in 1998. He leaves a son, Earl W. Clem, Jr. of Hinsdale, NH; three daughters, Geraldine L. Harney and Joanne C. Baronowski, both of Worcester and Rosemary H. Thorngren of Holden; two brothers, Frank W. Potter of North Brookfield and Charles R. Potter of Barre; three sisters, Marion S. Bentley of Barre, Bertha E. Regienus of Duxbury and Dorothy Elliott of Leeds; 10 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; and nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by four brothers and two sisters, Edgar, Russell, Norman and Walter Potter, Lillian Winooski and Gladys Deane.
Mr. Potter was born in the former town of Colebrook, the son of Joseph A. and Nellie J. (Brown) Potter. He worked for R.T. Curtis Co. in Barre for 40 years, before retiring. He was a member of the Teamsters Local 170. Mr. Potter was a World War II U.S. Army veteran, a former member of the Barre Sportsman's Club, an avid reader and enjoyed vacationing in Maine with his family.
The funeral is Tuesday, September 30th with a service at 11:00 A.M. in O'CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue, Worcester. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park. Calling hours are Monday, September 29th from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. in the funeral home.
