Gertrud (Paulisch) Haufe, widow of Fritz H. Haufe, a resident of Chelmsford and a long-time resident of Worcester, died Thursday, December 7th at the age of 100 years. Born January 4, 1906 in Madlow, Germany. She was the daughter of Wilhelm and Wilhelmine (Paulick) Paulisch. Prior to her retirement, she had been a supervisor in the Pharmaceutical Industry. At the end of World War II, Gertrud and her daughter were caught in the last battle for Germany, the battle of Halbe. She lived in East Germany and escaped from the communist regime in 1953, then establishing a home in Worcester, MA. She was an avid gardner and in 1976 was awarded Worcester Horticultural Societies certificate of excellence. She was a recreational seamstress and enjoyed walking and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Worcester. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law Hannelore H. and Gordon Munson of Carlise; two grandchildren, Renate Gundermann and Christal Bjork; 5 great-grandchildren: Christopher, Bryce, Daria, Chase and Lars. Services will be private. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be sent to the First Baptist Church of Worcester, Park Ave., Worcester, MA. Arrangements by BLAKE FUNERAL HOME, Chelmsford.
