Geraldine "Geri" Frances Elmer died on Sunday, October 24, 2010 in the Beaumont Rehabilitation & Skilled Nursing Center, Westborough. She was born in Worcester, the daughter of Robert B. and Catherine E. (Curnin) Foley. She graduated from Commerce High School where she was a Horace Mann Student and Class Secretary for all four years. She celebrated her 80th birthday on October 3rd.
Her husband of 61 years, Guy Elmer, Jr., died earlier this year – now they are together forever. She leaves two loving daughters, Pamela J. Williams and her husband Stephan of Worcester and Patricia A. Kasper and her husband Kenneth of Lakeland, Florida; two grandchildren whom she cherished, Benjamin M. Williams of Boston and Jacquelyn F. Kasper of Lakeland; three sisters, Margaret Fay of North Grafton, Kathleen Johnson of Barre and Rita Mullins of Rutland. Her brother, Thomas Foley, predeceased her.
Geri lived most of her life in Holden. She was an executive secretary at Reed Rolled Thread Company for 30 years, retiring in 1992. After retirement she delivered meals-on-wheels with Guy and volunteered at her grandchildren's school working in the library. Geri enjoyed gardening, antiquing, quilting and scrapbooking. She was a member of St. Mary's Church in Jefferson. She was a great cook and loved to try out new recipes. Every Sunday she would take great pride in serving a wonderful meal to her family. Geri's family was the most important thing to her and they will miss her immensely.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a calling hour from 6 to 7 p.m. followed by a funeral service at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, October 27th, in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden. Burial will be private in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Massachusetts Alzheimer's Disease Research Center, Mass.
