Subscription Update Obituary

     Gerald F. “Jerry” LaRose, 66 of Worcester passed away Monday, January 21, 2014 at home surrounded by loved ones. Jerry was born in Worcester on December 1, 1947 to Francis and Elizabeth LaRose, who predeceased him. He was raised in Worcester with his nine siblings and graduated from South High School. Jerry served in the US Army 1965 – 1968 and was a Vietnam War Veteran. He was the Chief of Security for the Worcester Reservoirs and former president of the Ty Cobb Little League and Ty Cobb Babe Ruth League where he coached for more than 20 years. Jerry enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, making memories with close family and friends on “the patio” listening to music and enjoying a cold one. He also enjoyed summer vacations with the LaRose family at Hampton Beach and playing cribbage with his cousin, Ra. He will be remembered for his avid love and knowledge of music, sports (most notably the Boston Red Sox) and wildlife.

     Jerry leaves behind his wife of 47 years, Margaret “Peggy” LaRose, son Daniel LaRose of Worcester, son Scott LaRose of Pittsburgh, California, and son Keith LaRose and his wife Kate of Bridgewater; seven grandchildren, Kurt, Evelyn, Erik, Alec, Grace, Samuel and Mark; sister Elizabeth Harding of Leicester, sister Jeanette Sullivan of Hubbardston, brother Richard LaRose of Worcester, brother David LaRose of Ocalo, Florida, brother Daniel LaRose of West Brookfield, brother Michael LaRose of Barre and brother Marc LaRose of Richmond, Virginia. He was predeceased by sisters Bernadette Fontaine and Claire Dickman. Jerry also leaves behind daughter-in-law Debbie LaRose, many cousins, nieces and nephews.

     A Funeral Service will be held Saturday, January 25 at 10:00 AM in CALLAHAN AND FAY BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 61 Myrtle St. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Visiting Hours are Friday, January 24 from 4 to 7 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in memory of Jerry LaRose to support cancer research and patient care at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, P.O.
