Subscription Update Obituary

   George W. Smith, formerly of Worcester, a retired truck driver, died Sunday in Staten Island, New York. He was 83.

   Mr. Smith graduated from Boys Trade High School and served in the United States Navy. He retired from Teamsters Local 170, in the 1980s, after being a driver for the JJ Nissen’s Baking Company for over 10 years.

   He enjoyed spending time with his friends and was an avid sports fan, especially baseball. His favorite pastimes included traveling, and congregating with friends at nearby coffee shops, parks and beaches.

   Mr. Smith is survived by 2 daughters, Roxanne Smith and Leianne Miller of Auburn and numerous grandchildren.

   He is also survived by the many friends whose lives he touched and enriched during his lifetime. He was known to many for his warmth, kindness and willingness to help others.
