George M. Perry (formerly of Worcester), 80, passed away Thursday, May 12, 2011 at home in the arms of his beloved wife following a long illness. He leaves his wife of 50 years, Jeanette M. (Girard) Perry; a son Spencer and his wife Kim Perry of Worcester, a daughter Katie M. Perry of Shrewsbury, a brother Francis L. Perry, many nieces and nephews and his “grand dog” Minnie. George was predeceased by 6 brothers – Peter, Raymond, Bernard, Erwin, Edmond, and Lawrence Perry and by 1 sister- Marguerite.

George was born in Hardwick, Vermont son of Peter and Hazel (Downing) Perry. He graduated from Hardwick Academy, Class of 1948 and then proudly served his country in the U.S. Army, serving in the Korean War. He worked as an engineer at Supernault Manufacturing in Clinton, MA and I.T.T Royal Electric Co. in Pawtucket, RI for over thirty years. He was a former longtime member of St. Christopher’s Church and more recently a member of St. Joan of Arc. He enjoyed traveling all over the country with his wife and children and especially visiting family in Vermont. He faithfully donated his blood annually to help others in need. He was a loving husband and father and although his greatest joy in life was spending time with his family, he wanted everyone to remember to “miss me…but let me go”.

Friends and relatives are invited to attend calling hours on Tuesday, May 17, 2011 from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. in Nordgren Memorial Chapel 300 Lincoln St. Worcester. A funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, May 18, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joan of Arc Church, 570 Lincoln St., Worcester, MA 01605. Burial and military honors will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in George’s memory to St. Joan of Arc for the new parish center they are building.
