George M. Harvey, Jr. (Skip), Founder and Developer of Worcester County Memorial Park, died of natural causes on Friday, 9-11-09, in his residence at The Willows while being comforted by his son.

   He is survived by his only child, a son from his first marriage, George M. Harvey, III (Chip) of Marina Del Rey, CA, a sister, Virginia (Ginger) Stone and her husband Walter Stone of Hilton Head, SC. Locally he leaves a niece, Mary Ellen Killelea of Shrewsbury, a nephew, Kevin Killelea of Paxton and Kevin's 2 children, Brian Killelea of Paxton and Kate Shrauger of Auburn. Both his second wife, Mary Ryder Harvey, and a brother, Donald Harvey, predeceased him. He also leaves his devoted healthcare worker, Barbara Stone.

   Mr. Harvey was born in Pittsburgh, PA, the son of George M. Harvey, Sr. and Norma Harvey. He resided in Grove City, PA until he joined the Merchant Marine during WW II and became an Assistant Engineer. After the war, Mr. Harvey was a Sales Manager for cemeteries in several states along the East Coast. In 1958 he and his wife, Mary, purchased Rosedale Memorial Park in Linden NJ. In 1961 he moved to Worcester to establish and develop Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton. He was pleased to have had the privilege of providing a beautiful and tranquil final resting place for all who seek solace.

   As one of its honored members, Mr. Harvey was elected to serve as President of The Pre-Arrangement Association of America for 2 consecutive terms. He was also a popular and much sought-after speaker for many years at cemetery industry conventions. In addition to being a 32*Mason and a Shriner, he was an avid golfer and a member of the Worcester and Tatnuck Country Clubs. A dedicated Patriots and Red Sox fan, he rarely missed a game.

   An entombment service was held at Worcester County Memorial Park on Thursday, 9-17-09, where he was reunited with his beloved wife, Mary, in the Praying Hands Mausoleum. The Reverend.
