Subscription Update Obituary

   Gary Robert Spence passed away peacefully at the Mercy Hospital in Scranton, PA on Monday, February 16th.

   He leaves his mother, Dr. Barbara Spence; a brother, William “Bill” Spence; many nephews, nieces, aunts, cousins and many friends. His father preceded him in death on December 7th, 2007.

   Gary was born in Worcester, MA. He attended both the public and Catholic schools. Gary was a veteran of the US Army, serving in the Korean War. He was last employed by the Lackawanna Housing Authority as a painter. Gary was a Boston Celtics fan, a Boston Red Sox fan and a New England Patriots fan. He was an avid fisherman. He loved his volunteer work with St. Adrian IHM and the poor. Gary was very proud to be a campaign volunteer for President Barack Obama.

   A memorial Mass will be held on Wednesday, March 4th at 11:00 AM in St. Peter’s Church, 931 Main Street, Worcester. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. A calling hour will be held in the church from 10:00 until the time of the service. O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue, Worcester is directing arrangements. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to St. Peter’s Church, 929 Main Street, Worcester, MA 01610.
