Subscription Update Obituary

Gail A. (Dubrey) Simmons, 71, of Shrewsbury, died Friday, May 27, 2011 at the UMass Memorial Hospital, Worcester, following a brief illness.

She leaves her husband of 39 years, Morton E. Simmons, Jr, CPA; her two children, Michael J. Simmons of Shrewsbury and Kimberly A. Simmons of New Hampshire; her brother, Paul A. Dubrey of Sturbridge; her sister, Judith A. McGovern of Northborough; as well as several nieces and nephews.

She was born in Cohoes, NY, daughter of the late Paul S. and Florence (Leclair) Dubrey and has lived in Shrewsbury for almost 40 years. She graduated from Anna Maria College and later earned her Master’s Degree in mathematics from the University of Michigan. She then taught math at Anna Maria College in Paxton and later at Quinsigamond Community College, Worcester. After her children were born, Mrs. Simmons became a stay at home mom, lovingly caring for her family. She was a member of Saint Mary’s Parish in Shrewsbury.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Gail’s family on Wednesday, June 1st from 9:30 – 10:30 AM in the Britton-Shrewsbury Funeral Home, 648 Main Street, Shrewsbury. Her funeral will be celebrated at 11 AM in Saint Mary’s Church, 640 Main St., Shrewsbury with burial following in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. If desired, memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association , 330 Congress St, Boston, MA 02210 or to Saint Mary’s Parish Haiti Support Program, 20 Summer St, Shrewsbury, MA 01545.
