Subscription Update Obituary

    Frank Rudis, 95, a longtime resident of Worcester, died peacefully on Thursday, September 3, 2009. His wife of 63 years, Gertrude V. (Edquist) Rudis, died in 2001. He is survived by his daughters, Marilyn A. Cranston of West Boylston and Evelyn “Sue” M. Halkola of Hubbardston; two sisters, Agnes Thoren of Washington State and Anne Rose of Sutton; 4 grandchildren, Kristen Halkola, James Halkola and his wife Shelley, Jeffrey Cranston and his wife Cathy, Mindy Esteves and her husband Barry; 5 great-grandchildren, Melanie, Halley, Adam, Justin and Laney; and several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his great-grandson, Thomas C. Cranston, a brother, Algirdas Rudis and two sons-in-law, Robert H. Cranston and Marcus A. Halkola.

    He was born in Worcester the son of Adam and Anna (Aldonis) Rudis. Frank retired from Heffernan Press in Worcester. He was a member of St. Christopher’s Church in Worcester. He loved to travel and especially enjoyed spending summers in New Hampshire and Cape Cod. He was a support and help to many people and a power of example by the way he lived. The family would like to thank the staff at Sterling Healthcare for their compassion and care.

    Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, September 8th in the Miles-Sterling Funeral Home, 100 Worcester Road (Rte. 12), Sterling. The funeral will be held on Wednesday, September 9th from the funeral home with an 11 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Richard of Chichester Church, 4 Bridge St., Sterling. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Elder Services of Worcester Area Inc., 411 Chandler St., Worcester, MA 01602.
