Subscription Update Obituary

Francis T. Foley, 61, of 4 Sussex Lane, died yesterday in St. Vincent Hospital.

His wife, Phyllis M. (Donnelly) Foley, died in 1988.

He leaves two sons, William T. Foley of Danielson, Conn. and John L. Balcunas of Auburn; three brothers, former State Senator Daniel J. Foley, John J. Foley and Joseph M. Foley, all of Worcester; two sisters, Mary V. Gray of Auburn and Kathleen V. Sargent of Worcester; four grandchildren and several nephews and nieces.

Mr. Foley was the first assistant deputy superintendent of operations at the Worcester County House of Corrections, where he worked for more than 25 years. He started the first work released program in the Worcester area.

Born in Worcester, he was a son of Timothy and Catherine (McMahon) Foley.

A graduate of the former Worcester Boys Trade School, he was a Navy veteran of World War II.

He was a member of Blessed Sacrament Church and the Grafton Hill American Legion Post 323.

The funeral will be held Friday from the Athy Memorial Home, 111 Lancaster St., with a Mass at 10 a.m. in Blessed Sacrament Church, 555 Pleasant St.

Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton.

Calling hours at the funeral home are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow.

The family requests flowers be omitted. Memorial donations may be made instead to the Mercy Centre for Developmental Disabilities, 25 West Chester St., Worcester, Mass. 01605.
