Francis E. "Pat" Derrick, 83, of 12 Crown St., died Thursday, October 7 at his home. He was the husband of Lorraine C. (Ethier) Derrick who died in 2000.

He leaves a nephew, Richard S. Rybak of Centerbrook. Ct.; a niece, Patricia A. Skeens of Polk City, Fla. and his close friend and companion, Louise Downie of Auburn.

He was born in Brookfield, the son of Francis Patrick and Ella F. (Williams) Derrick. He graduated from Brookfield High School and later served his country with the U.S. Army during WWII.

He was a member of the Gaudette-Kirk Post 138 American Legion in Spencer.

"He hadn't time to pen a note. He hadn't time to cast a vote. He hadn't time to sing a song. He hadn't time to right a wrong. He hadn't time to love or give. He hadn't time to really live. From now on he'll have time on end. He died today my "BUSY" friend".
