Florence M. (Smith) O'Rourke, 83 of the Lodge at Eddy Pond and formerly of Raymond St., Worcester, passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side on Sunday, April 9, 2010, in the UMass Memorial Hospital, Worcester.

    Her beloved husband of 40 years, James A. O'Rourke died in 1986.

    She leaves her three children, Maureen Kuchnicki and her husband Bruce of Auburn, Thomas O'Rourke and his fiancée Julia Morris of Auburn, and Joan Stockwell and her husband George of Oxford; 10 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her son, James S. O'Rourke in 2008 and by her two brothers, Stephen and Franklin Smith.

    Florence was born in Masontown, PA, daughter of the late Stephen and Helen (Glagola) Smith and lived in Worcester for many years prior to moving to Auburn. Florence retired from the former Davey's Leathergoods, where she had worked for 23 years. She enjoyed her gardens, playing bingo, watching the Red Sox, and vacationing in Old Orchard Beach, ME. Florence was a devoted mother and grandmother whose greatest love was spending time together as family.

    Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Florence's family on Thursday, May 13th from 5-8 PM in the Britton-Wallace Funeral Home, 91 Central Street, Auburn, MA. Her funeral will be held on Friday, May 14th from the funeral home with a Funeral Mass celebrated at 10 AM in Saint Joseph's Church, 189 Oxford St., Auburn. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. In lieu flowers, memorial gifts may be sent to the American Heart Association , 20 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.
