Evelyne Rose (Bouvier) Legasey, of Auburn passed away in her sleep Wednesday April 4, 2012 at Millbury Health Care Center . She was 86.
She leaves her husband of 65 yearsWilliam F. Legasey, Jr., her daughter Sandra Lee Legasey-Feldman and her husband Glenn Feldman of Auburn, 4 grandaughters Jennifer Holmes of Dennisport,Deirdre Legasey of Auburn,Caroline Shea of Leicester and Jessica Johnson of Oxford.She also leaves 7 great grandchildren,her brothers Napoleon and Milton Armour, sisters Eva Bassett and Shirley Williams, daughter in-law Catherine Shugrue-Legasey and brother- in- law and sister- in-law Vernon and Marion Burke. She also leaves her cat Chubba Bubba who she adopted from the Kathleen Sabina Animal Compound.
She is preceded in death by her son Mark W. Legasey, her sister Lillian Bouvier and brothers Clifford and Clarence Bouvier and her mother and father-in-law Florence and William Legasey Sr.
Evelyne was born in Sutton. She was the daughter of the late Peter Bouvier of Canada.
Mrs. Legasey was a 1943 graduate of Sutton High and later attended Salter Secretarial School.
She worked for the Telephone Co., and for Denholm McKay and later for the former Cherry Webb Touraine prior to retiring.
Mrs. Legasey was a member of the First Congregational Church in Auburn and taught at its Sunday school for many years.
She loved to paint, arrange flowers, work in her garden and cook wonderful meals for family and friends. She especially loved spending time with her family. If a child could hand pick who they would want for a mother she would be that choice.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Monday April 9, 2012 5-7 p.m in the Britton-Wallace Funeral Home, 91 Central Street in Auburn. Her funeral service will be held Tuesday April 10. 2012 at 11 AM in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton.
The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the staff of Millbury Healthcare, especially Cathy in activities and Drew in the kitchen for their loving and attentive care and for those wonderful aids and nurses who took such good care of her to the last.
