Evelyn Marian "Peggy" (Lancey) Desrosiers of Indian Hill Road, Paxton, passed away unexpectedly but very peacefully on Thursday, April 15, 2010 in Lutheran Health Care Center.

She is survived by her husband of 64 years, and the love of her life, Alfred E. Desrosiers of Paxton; her son, Kenneth of Marstons Mills, two daughters, Donmarie of Paxton and Diane and her husband, Mark Ruderman, of Scottsdale, AZ; three grand children: David Ruderman of Scottsdale, Andrew Desrosiers and Renee Davis both of Marstons Mills. She also leaves a baby great-granddaughter, Amanda Davis born three days before her passing. This is the "circle of life." She also leaves numerous nieces and nephews through three generations. She is predeceased by seven siblings: Edward and William Lancey, Grace Parkhurst and Anna, Ruth, Catherine and Elizabeth.

Peggy was born February 4, 1911 in Brookline, NH to Edward Dearborn Lancey and Katherine (Koch) Lancey. She was educated in Brookline and Townsend, MA schools and later moved to Athol, MA where she met and married her forever sweetheart, and worked in the shoe industry. She and her husband later moved to Paxton where they raised three children.

Peggy was a "stay at home mom" and home maker who enjoyed caring for her home and family, cooking wonderful meals, and planting beautiful flower gardens. Roses and dinner-plate dahlias were her specialty. She was also accomplished at hand sewing, embroidering and crocheting beautiful pieces. She was an avid reader. Peggy was all about her husband and children, and put her whole heart and soul into everything she did.

Peggy enjoyed renting a cottage in East Sandwich each summer when the children were small, and when they were grown, vacationing at Bourne Scenic Park in their camping trailer for entire summers. She is so fondly and lovingly remembered as a doting and protective mother and a devoted and loving wife. Her family did everything together. We must also acknowledge her feisty side, and her Irish wit, being able to engage a group of friends in raucous laughter. This was noted by the nursing staff at Lutheran Home as she would get them laughing with her witty comebacks. One of her favorite phrases to her children when they misbehaved was, "If I get my Irish up…".

She will be greatly missed by her loving family and friends. At age 99, she lived a very long, beautiful life, free of major medical problems. A special thank you to the wonderful, caring staff of the Lutheran Home for their gentle and attentive care of her.

Calling hours will be on Thursday, April 22 from 9-10:30 a.m. in the Miles Funeral Home, 1159 Main Street, Holden. A Mass of Christian Burial and Celebration of life will follow at 11 a.m. in St. Columba's Church, 10 Richards Ave, Paxton. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton. Following the burial, all family and friends are invited to attend a gathering at the Paxton American Legion Post on Pleasant Street in Paxton.
