Esther M. (McGrath) Prevatt, 71, of Worcester formerly of Gardner, died peacefully Wednesday, December 2, 2009 at home Surrounded by her family. Her husband, Benny B, Prevatt died in 2006. Esther is survived by her loving family; her children: Mary Sauvageau and her husband Phillip, Ann Bergeron and her husband Michael, Debra Whitman and her significant other Michael LeBlanc, Ralph Sumblin, Sandra Roy and her husband Michael, John Prevatt and his wife Jennifer, Nancy Mann and her husband Luke, Janice Gainey and her husband Greg, and Benny Prevatt Jr. Twenty-one grandchildren, and twenty six great grandchildren.
Esther is also survived by three brothers: Adrien, Durham,and Clarence McGrath, and two sisters: Helen and Ida McGrath, and many nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by a brother, Patrick and a sister, Kay.
Esther was born in New Foundland, Nova Scotia, daughter of the late John and Kathleen (Nash) McGrath and came to the United States many years ago. She lived most of her life in Gardner before moving to Worcester to live with her daughter, Sandra. She enjoyed being a homemaker to her large family. She was a member of the First Bible Baptist Church of Gardner. She enjoyed watching her favorite TV show "COPS" but her most precious times were those spent with her family especially the grandchildren. She will be missed dearly by her family and friends. She leaves to her children that they always be safe and loving to one another.
Esther's funeral will be held Saturday at 11AM in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. Calling hours will be held Friday, December 4, from 6-8PM in the funeral home. Interment will be in Worcester County Memorial Park Paxton. Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society , 20 Speen St, Framingham, MA 01701.
