Estelle Davis Kay died June 12, 2012 at the age of 88 in Dodge Park Rest Home. Her beloved husband, George Kay died in 2001. She was the daughter of George Laurence and Pearl Huff of Salisbury St., Holden, MA. She leaves three children, Noel Rettig, Holly Barton, and Laurence Rettig. She had four grandchildren, Rev. Jill Williams, Jason Barton, Samantha Rettig, and Laurence Rettig Jr.; and nine great- grandchildren. She was predeceased by her brother Howard Huff of Canada.
Estelle attended Northfield Seminary and Clark University where she received a Bachelor and Masters Degree. She was a dedicated teacher at Wachusett Regional High School in Holden and Quinsigamond Community College part-time. In her retirement she worked with her husband, a lay leader in the Methodist Church and later became a minister herself. She was Reverend Kay at Wesley Methodist in Worcester as Visiting Pastor, a Pastor in West Warren Methodist Church and several part-time parishes in Maine. She remained active in church work, the Northfield Alumni Association, the Timothy Bigelow Chapter of the DAR, and the Dickens Club.
Calling hours are at Nordgren Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln St., on Monday, June 18th at 10 a.m. and a funeral service at 11 a.m. Her granddaughter the Rev. Jill Williams will officiate. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Timothy Bigelow Chapter of the DAR, 140 Lincoln St., Worcester MA 01605.
