Errol F. "Spike" Simons, 86, of Pakachoag Village, died Monday in UMass-Memorial Medical Center in Worcester after an illness.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 60 years, Barbara (Munzert) Simons, and their children: George Simons, and his wife Jean, of Four Oakes, NC, Cathy Tucker and her husband Tony, of Houston, TX, John Simons and his wife Kathy, of Charlton, Dan Simons, and his wife Robin, of E. Brookfield, and Scott Simons and his wife Darcy, of Spencer. He leaves 16 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
He was born in Bradford, VT the son of the late Edward M. and Wenona B. (Moore) Simons.
He was a proud Veteran of WWII. He served in the U.S. Army as a member of the 12th Armored Division, known as the "Hellcats."
He was a big fan of Country and Western Music, and enjoyed camping.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Visiting Hours on Wednesday from 5-8 PM in the Britton-Wallace Funeral Home, 91 Central Street, Auburn. His funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, on Thursday, in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park.
