Subscription Update Obituary

Ernesto Diaz Torres, 81, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 14, 2025, with his devoted wife at his side.

Mr. Diaz Torres was born on June 17th, 1944 in Arecibo, Puerto Rico, the son of the late Bernardo Diaz and Celina Torres. In his early years, he was a plumber by trade and later became a truck driver before retiring. Ernesto was known for his kind and gentle spirit, something everyone appreciated most about him. Ernesto enjoyed being in nature and animals, but his favorite place was at the beach. He was also an enthusiastic spectator of Major League Baseball- enjoying both the Boston Red Sox and their rival New York Yankees.

Above all, he was a loving and dedicated husband to his wife of 24 years, Betzaida. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his two children, Ernesto Diaz and his wife, Mildred Alvarez, and Iris Cruz and her husband, Francisco; his step-children, Angela Prieto-Grant, Frank Arroyo, Maria Colon, Manuel Rios, Angelo Colon and Jesus Alberto Ortiz; a brother, Luis Diaz, and a sister, Laura Diaz; two grandchildren; several step grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

A Visiting Hour will be held from 10 to 11AM, with a Funeral Service at 11AM on Monday, December 22, in the Callahan, Fay & Caswell Funeral Home, 61 Myrtle St., Worcester. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton.
