Subscription Update Obituary

Emma Wilhelmina Brown, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, May 3, 2011. Her beloved husband of 54 years, Andrew S. Brown, died in 2008. She was born in Gloucester, Massachusetts, daughter of Emma W. (Carlson) and John H. Borgstrom. She was a sister of Virginia M. Hale of Rockport. She leaves a son and 2 daughters, Carolyn J. Brown of Worcester, David S. Brown of Newton, and Suzanne C. Hong and her husband James of Southborough; 5 dearly loved grandchildren, Rilie, Hannah, Corey, Chloe, and Haley. She also leaves two nephews and their families.

Emma graduated from Rockport High School and the former Kathleen Dell Secretarial School in Brookline, Massachusetts. She was employed by Lever Brothers, Ltd., in Cambridge as a stenographer and claims clerk. She enjoyed oil painting and creating floral designs, and was an avid reader. Mrs. Brown was a member of Salem Covenant Church and the Nordic Lodge No. 611, Vasa Order of America.

A special thank you to the Overlook VNA who took such wonderful care of our mother and allowed us to keep her at home. Thank you to Overlook Hospice and thank you to Visiting Angels for our Gina who lovingly cared for our mother.

Funeral services under the direction of Nordgren Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln Street were private. Burial was in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Memorial donations may be made to Nordic Lodge No. 611, Vasa Order of America, c/o Susan Johnson, 11 Laurelwood Ave., Leicester MA 01524.
