Emma Mae (Carow) Caricchio, 82, formerly of 6 Pinehurst Ave., Auburn, passed away peacefully Sunday, October 3, 2010 at The Life Care Center of Auburn surrounded by her loving family. Her husband of 25 Years, John P. Caricchio passed in 1978.
She was born in Worcester, December 16, 1927, of the late William and Lila (Nadeau) Carow, Sr. She was predeceased by her brother William Carow, Jr.
Emma, lovingly known as “Mae” by her close friends, leaves behind two daughters Sheryl Morin and her husband Richard of Auburn, and Sandra Schnare and her husband James of Worcester. Three grandchildren, Jodie Riley and her husband Daniel of Oxford, James Schnare and his wife Blaine of Charlton, and Mallory Schnare of Worcester, three great grandchildren, Sharrie, Leah and Cameron Riley, along with many cousins, nieces, nephews and her dear friends for many years Michael, Ellie and Eric.
Emma had been a resident of The Life Care Center of Auburn for the past year. Her sweet personality and sense of humor made her quite popular and loved by the staff, residents, and families she came in contact with.
Her compassion was evident by the care she provided as a residential councilor at the Centrum House in Worcester, where she provided guidance and support to adults with emotional handicaps. Prior to Centrum House she worked at Norton Company for many years.
She enjoyed square dancing for many years. In her spare time she enjoyed playing bingo and playing cards with her good friends Michael, Eric and Ellie. She also enjoyed knitting, making puzzles, doing crossword puzzles, and watching classic television shows, but most of all she enjoyed every minute she could spend with all her “grand babies”.
The family wishes to thank all the staff at The Life Care Center of Auburn for their support, compassion, and care for our Mom.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours from 5-8pm Wednesday in the Britton-Wallace Funeral home, 91 Central St. Auburn. Her funeral service will be held Thursday at 11: 00 AM in the funeral home, burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park.
