Subscription Update Obituary

Emile L. “Pop” Rousseau, 91, of Depot Road, formerly of Harding Street, Worcester, a steelworker for many years and a former youth leader, died yesterday at home after an illness.

His wife of 62 years, Julia M. (Chicoine) Rousseau, died in 1994.  He leaves four sons, Emile L. Rousseau Jr. of Southbridge, Richard E. Rousseau of Marble Falls, Texas, Raymond P. Rousseau of Austin, Texas, and Robert Rousseau of Hawley, PA; five daughters, Jeanette M. Valois of Oxford, Anne T. Fife of Middleton, NY, Joan Baril of Derry, NH, and Florence Marchand and Margaret Simmons, both of Worcester; 19 grandchildren; 10 great-children; and nephews and nieces.  He was born in Lowell, son of Louis J. and Eugenie (Bastien) Rousseau, and lived in Worcester before moving to North Oxford in 1994.

He served in the Army from 1928 to 1931, including duty in Hawaii.

Mr. Rousseau was an annealer at the American Steel & Wire Division, US STeel Corp., where he worked for 45 years.  He retired in 1972.  He was a longtime member of St. Anthony’s Church and led its Boy Scout troop for many years.  He was a member of the United Steelworkers of America and a former director of the A.R. LeMieux Boys’ Camp in Leicester.
