Subscription Update Obituary

    Elizabeth M. (Mastrodomenico) Monfreda, 90 of Worcester, passed away Thursday, August 12, 2010 at the Christopher House surrounded by her loving family.

    Elizabeth’s husband of 58 years, Albert G. Monfreda, passed away in January of 1999. She is survived by a son, Albert Monfreda and his wife Theresa of Worcester; a daughter, Rosemary Simao of South Windsor, CT; three sisters, Lena Giansanti of Lancaster, Eva Vitone and her husband Pasquale of Fitchburg and Anne Giansanti of Clinton; five beloved grandchildren, Jay Monfreda and his wife Erica, Derek Monfreda, Jason Simao, Christine Peluso and Courtney Borelli; seven great grandchildren, many nieces nephews and friends. She is predeceased by a son-in-law, Joseph Simao; a brother, Felix “Phil” Domenico; a sister, Josephine D’Olympio.

    Elizabeth was born in Worcester, a daughter of the late Vito and Rose (Salvati) Mastrodomenico and has lived here all her life. She attended Adams Street School. She then began to work as a sales clerk for 15 years at Zayre’s Department Store before retiring. She was also a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. She enjoyed and loved to cook, sing and dance. She will be greatly missed by all.

    Elizabeth’s family would like to extend their gratitude to the Christopher House and to the Jewish Home Hospice for the outstanding care and compassion they had given her.

    Elizabeth’s funeral will be held Monday, August 16, 2010 from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. with a Mass at 9:00 A.M. in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 28 Mulberry St, Worcester. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Friends and relatives are invited to visit with the family Sunday, August 15th from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the funeral home.
