Subscription Update Obituary

     Elizabeth M. (Sasse) Doyle, 85, passed away on Tuesday, February 14, 2012, at Knollwood Nursing Center in West Boylston with her daughters by her side. She was born in Worcester, the daughter of Ernest of Cologne, Germany and Mary (Matheson) Sasse of Grand Rapids, Nova Scotia.

     She leaves her husband of 62 years, Howard J. Doyle; two daughters, Maureen E. LaVigne of West Boylston and Laurie A. Smith and her husband Gregory of Jefferson; two brothers, Hubert Sasse of Cape Cod and Florida and Donald Sasse of North Carolina; five granddaughters, Andrea LaVigne, Brieana Tascione, Janelle Woodfall, Caitlin Smith and Alexandra LaVigne; two great-granddaughters, Ashley LaVigne and Reagan Woodfall; and several nephews and nieces. Two sisters, Marilyn Nideur and Eileen Allen, predeceased her.

     Growing up in Worcester, Edward and Mary Anderson were a very special part of her life. Elizabeth graduated from Commerce High School in Worcester and was a member of Chaffin Congregational Church in Holden for many years. She enjoyed gardening, animals, sewing and spending time with her family.

     Funeral services are private and will be held at the convenience of the family. Flowers may be sent or memorial contributions may be made to the Sterling Animal Shelter, 17 Laurelwood Road, Sterling, MA 01564. Arrangements are under the care of the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, in Holden.
