Subscription Update Obituary

     Elizabeth M. “Betty” (Deyo) Boatwright, 79, died after a long illness, surrounded by her family, on Sunday, October 7, 2007.


     She leaves her husband of 58 years, Robertson G. Boatwright; a daughter, Margaret Boatwright-McEvoy of Worcester; three granddaughters, Moira M. McEvoy, Catheryn “Kate” McEvoy- Zdonczyk and Tanya M. Boatwright; a grandson, Michael Grady Boatwright Jr.; four great-grandchildren, Damian and Aaron McEvoy, and Jenna and Justin Johnson; two sisters, Marjorie Marien of Hudson, Fla. and Dolores Capurso of Fla.; nephews and nieces. Her son, Michael G. Boatwright, died in 1989. A brother, Joseph Deyo, and a sister, Rosemarie Page, also predeceased her


     Elizabeth was born in Brooklyn, NY, daughter of Edward N. and Rose (Garcia) Deyo. She moved to Athol in 1941 and to Worcester in 1945.


     She graduated from Commerce High School and attended Worcester State Teacher’s College.


     She lived a full life with extensive travel, many visits to Nauset Beach on Cape Cod, constant book reading and regular lunches at the Parkway Diner.


     She played an active part in the lives of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who knew her as “Grand Charlie.”


     Calling hours at the Athy Memorial Home, 111 Lancaster St., Worcester, are Tuesday, Oct. 9 from 5 to 8 p.m. The funeral will be Wednesday, Oct. 10 from the funeral home with a Mass at Noon in St. Peter’s Church, 931 Main St., Worcester. Burial will be private.
