It is with great sadness that the family of Elizabeth Ellen (Welsher) Naoum of Worcester, East Brookfield, and Uxbridge, MA announce her passing on Saturday, January 3rd, 2026 at the age of 96.
Elizabeth was born in England at Isle Abbotts in Somerset to William Welsher and Blanche Meade. Elizabeth met and married George her husband at the end of World War II George pre-deceased her in December 1989. Elizabeth was also pre-deceased by her sister, Gladys and husband, William Rowland, brother, Alan Welsher and wife Daisy, sister Nora and husband, Lionel Antell.
Elizabeth worked 24 years, for Paul Revere Life Insurance Company in Worcester as their mailroom supervisor, retiring in 1984. She and George traveled to England along with other family members a number of times to visit the “Brits”. She enjoyed trips up to York Beach Maine, knitting, sewing, reading and especially gardening. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren.
Elizabeth is survived by her 2 daughters, Elizabeth Thibaud and her husband Gregory of York, ME, and Marilyn Tesell of Uxbridge; 3 grandchildren, William Thibaud and wife Ann Burgos Thibaud; Melissa and her husband Christopher Elworthy, and Mark and his wife Jessica Taterak Tesell; great-grandchildren: Emily Thibaud, Valerie Thibaud, Elizabeth “Libby” Elworthy, Jack Elworthy, and Claire Tesell, as well as 3 nieces, Judith Ripley, Angela Welsher, and Helen Quist.
Our family would like to thank the staff at Lydia Taft House for their outstanding care and compassion shown to our Mum during her stay there.
As to her wishes, Elizabeth will be cremated, and her burial will be privately held in Worcester County Memorial Park. A Celebration of her life will be held on April 11, 2026, at Val’s Restaurant, 75 Reservoir St., Holden, MA, at 1 PM. Family and friends are warmly invited to gather in remembrance. Donations in her memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave., Floor 17, Chicago, IL 60601, or the the Lydia Taft House, 60 Quaker Hwy, Uxbridge, MA 01569.
