Subscription Update Obituary

     Eileen P. (Deignan) Kenary, 65, of Teaticket, and formerly of Worcester, passed away Thursday, April 11, 2013 in her home, surrounded by her family, after a valiant struggle with cancer.
     She is survived by her husband Paul M. Kenary; her children Steven E. Kenary of Boston and Ann Marie Kenary of Worcester; two grandchildren, Sean P. and Siobhan Gallivan, both of Worcester; a brother, Deacon Kevin J. Deignan and his wife Michelle, of Worcester; and an uncle, Richard D. Deignan and his wife Helen, of Worcester.
     Eileen was born in Worcester, daughter of Joseph P. and Gertrude E. (Regan) Deignan. She lived in Worcester most of her life. She has been living on Cape Cod since 2006 and she has spent winters in Venice, Fla.
     Eileen was a graduate of the former Sacred Heart Academy in Worcester and Framingham State University.
     Eileen was an elementary school teacher in the Worcester Public Schools for 34 years, retiring in 2005. She taught at Canterbury St., Chandler St., and Flagg St. schools, and completed her career at Rice Sq. School.
     She was a member of the Educational Assn. of Worcester and the Mass. Teachers Assn. She was once named Worcester Teacher of the Year.
     Eileen participated in the Girl Scouts of America. Her hobbies included Swedish weaving, genealogy, bird watching, and growing African violets and hydrangea.
     She was devoted to her family and adored her grandchildren.
     Calling hours are Sunday, April 14 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Athy Memorial Home, 111 Lancaster St., Worcester. The funeral will be Monday, April 15 from the funeral home with a Mass at 10 a.m. in Christ the King Church, 1052 Pleasant St., Worcester. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton.
