Subscription Update Obituary

     Edward C. Boehnke Jr., 68, of Mount Pleasant Avenue, Jefferson, died peacefully surrounded by his family on Saturday, November 20, 2010 in UMass Memorial Healthcare-University Campus, Worcester.

    His wife of 39 years, Florence "Dolly" A. (Manning) Boehnke, passed away in 2006. He is survived by a son, Carl E. Boehnke of Jefferson; a daughter, Janice E. McNamara of Princeton; a brother, Victor Boehnke of Spencer; four sisters, Paulette Maley of Worcester, Barbara Batty and her husband Frank of Spencer, Donna Strom of Worcester, and Karen Kenwood and her husband Doug of Spencer; many nieces and nephews, and grandnieces and grandnephews. He was born in Worcester, the son of Edward C. Boehnke Sr. and Stella (Logan). He had lived in Jefferson for over 40 years.

    Mr. Boehnke attended Saint Mary's High School in Worcester and soon after high school, he enlisted in the United States Army as an Ordinance Specialist. He worked for Wright Line Company in Worcester for 38 years where he was affectionately known by his coworkers as "Eddy", "Dad" or "Grandpa", retiring in 2005. He enjoyed playing golf, horseshoes and pitch, and was a member of the Central Mass Horseshoe club having played in many tournaments including several world tournaments. He was a member of St. Mary's Church in Jefferson.

    He was a devoted husband, father and co-worker who will be dearly missed by all.

    Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 4 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, November 23rd, in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden. The funeral for Mr. Boehnke will be held on Wednesday, November 24th, from the funeral home with a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in Saint Mary's Church, 114 Princeton St., Jefferson. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Please omit flowers. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the UMass Memorial Foundation, Critical Care Unit, 365 Plantation Street, Suite 100, Worcester, MA 01605-2395; or the Shriners Hospitals, 51 Blossom St., Boston, MA 02114-2699.
