Subscription Update Obituary

   Edna T. (Doherty) Doherty, 93, formerly of Rockaway Rd., died Monday, December 10th in the Blaire House of Worcester, after an illness.

   Her husband, David P. Doherty, II, died in 1977.

   She leaves her three daughters: Kathleen Arsenault of Charlton, Jean Laconto of Tucson, AZ, and Elaine F. Doherty of Auburn; two sisters: Mary Hamilton of Auburn and Barbara Army of Nashua, NH; nine grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son, David P. Doherty, III; her brother, Philip D. Doherty, Jr.; and her three sisters: Ann Morowski, Helen Baer, and Cecilia Geheren. She was born in Milton Mills, NH, a daughter of the late Philip D. and Iva M. (Hoyt) Doherty and has lived in Auburn for many years.

   Mrs. Doherty worked as a speck inspector for Bell’s in Worcester during World War II. She later spent her time raising her family as a homemaker. She was a member of North American Martyrs Parish and its Women’s Group in Auburn, was active in the former Boyce Street School PTA, she was an Assistant Brownie Leader for Troop 220. She enjoyed crocheting and sewing, yard sales and flea markets. She also liked decorating and wallpapering, and loved to garden and do crossword puzzles.

   Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Edna’s family on Friday, December 14th from 5-8 PM in the Britton-Wallace Funeral Home, 91 Central St., Auburn. Her funeral will be held on Saturday from the funeral home with a Mass celebrated at 12 Noon in North American Martyrs Church, 8 Wyoma Dr., Auburn. Committal will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton.

   Instead of flowers, Edna’s family requests that memorial gifts be sent to Saint Anthony’s Bread for the Poor, Patterson, NJ or a charity of the donor’s choice.
