Subscription Update Obituary

     Edith J. “Jackie” (Collette) Gleason, 82, formerly of Commonwealth Ave., and previously of Prospect St., died Monday, October 7, 2013 at Jewish Healthcare Center, after a long illness. Her husband of 55 years, Charles W. Gleason, Sr., died October 25, 2005. She leaves two sons, Charles W. Gleason Jr. and his wife Gail of Florida, Shawn M. Gleason and his wife Kathy of Worcester; two daughters, Linda Kupstas and her husband Steven of Auburn, Christine Mezzoni and her husband Edward of Windsor, Colorado; a brother, Gerald Collette and his companion Ginny of Buzzards Bay; a sister, Doreen Adams and her husband Grover of Leicester; ten grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and her special friend Joe at Jewish Healthcare Center. A daughter, Sandra Frenette, died July 7, 2000. She was born and raised in Spencer, daughter of the late Oscar and Edith (Fenton) Collette. She lived in Worcester most of her life.

     Jackie worked as a clerk at the former Laurel St. Market for 10 years until she retired in 1995. She had been a volunteer at Radius Healthcare Center of Worcester where she enjoyed crochet with the residents. She was also an avid fan of the Red Sox and PGA Golf.

     THERE ARE NO CALLING HOURS. A GRAVESIDE SERVICE will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Friday, Oct. 11, in WORCESTER COUNTY MEMORIAL PARK, Paxton, MA. The family suggests donations in Jackie’s memory be made to Jewish Healthcare Center, 629 Salisbury Street, Worcester, MA 01609.
