Subscription Update Obituary

    Edith "Edie" (Carlson) Carlson, 91, passed away peacefully with her beloved family by her side on Thursday, February 11, 2010. She leaves her husband of 63 years, Carl Carlson; one son, Robert C. Carlson and his wife Franny Huberman; two daughters: Lois C. Shillito of NY and Linda L. DeBruin and her partner Diane Perotto of Worcester; eight grandchildren: Jessica, Daniel and Benjamin DeBruin of Chicago, James, Nils, and Carl Shillito of NY, and Jonah and Ella Carlson of Monterey; and nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Einar A. Carlson and a sister, Arlene Warg.

    Edith was born in Worcester, daughter of Carl and Maria (Anderson) Carlson. She was a registered nurse at Worcester City Hospital for many years. Edie was an active member of Immanuel Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday school and was a member of the Women's Circle. She enjoyed camping at Camp Calumet and playing the piano, writing music, and gardening.

    Calling hours will be held at Nordgren Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln Street, Worcester on Saturday, February 13, from 3-5 p.m. The funeral will be held at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 346 Shrewsbury Street, Holden, MA 01520 on Sunday, February 14, at 3:00 p.m. Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 15, at Worcester County Memorial Park, 217 Richards Avenue, Paxton. The funeral procession to the cemetery will leave Immanuel Lutheran Church at 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Memorial Fund, Immanuel Lutheran Church, 346 Shrewsbury Street, Holden, MA 01520.
