Edith A. (Guglielmello) Pike, 90, of Worcester, passed away on Saturday, April 20, 2013. Edith’s husband, Edwin E. Pike, predeceased her in 2001, after sixty years of marriage. She is survived by her children, Edwin E. Pike, Jr. and his wife Valerie of Leicester, Sandra M. Basso and her husband Michael of Leonardtown, MD, Dr. Ronald F. Pike and his wife Martha of Shrewsbury and Jeffrey A. Pike and his wife Johanna of Charlton. She leaves her grandchildren, Kelly Roy and her husband Al of Worcester, Robert Pike and his wife Kristen of Leicester, Ronald F. Pike, Jr. and Melody Johnson of Webster, Brian Basso and his wife Deana of Parrish, FL, Scott Basso of Salt Lake City, Elizabeth Silva and her husband David of Auburn, Kevin Basso and his wife Kimberly of Lexington Park, MD, Stephanie Pike of Worcester, Christina Kulvete and her husband Ryan of Framingham, Jacqueline Pike of Boston, Jeffrey Pike, Jr. and Adam Pike, both of Charlton; sixteen great grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
     Edith was born in Worcester, daughter of the late Salvatore and Josephine Guglielmello. She was predeceased by her sisters, Domenica Nardella, Marianne Upton, Assunta McCabe, Katherine Witt, Stella Maniero Yolanda McMahon, Dorothy Couture and her brothers, James, Henry, Wilfred and Salvatore Guglielmello.
     Edith attended the Worcester School System. In her younger years, Edith was an avid candle-pin bowler, where she reached the Worcester Telegram and Gazette Finals from Mount Carmel Bowling League. She retired after twenty years as a sales associate in the junior department for Filene’s of Worcester.
     After retirement, Edith enjoyed water aerobics and swimming at the YWCA in Worcester. She was a former member of the East Side Post Auxiliary, where she was elected Chaplain. Edith enjoyed marching in the parades for special holidays. She attended Our Lady of Lourdes Church. As a church member, she worked in the soup kitchen cooking lunches for the poor at Jeremiah’s Inn, maintained the priest’s vestments and altar linens. Edith received as certificate of appreciation during National Volunteer Week from The Worcester Senior Center. She also walked in the Memory Walk in 2003, to end Alzheimer’s. During this walk she received a certificate for third place team walker acknowledging her outstanding fund raising efforts. Edith enjoyed gardening, walking and reading.
     Her generosity, kindness and compassion to family friends and charitable organizations is her legacy.

     Calling hours for Edith will be held on Wednesday, April 24, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. in MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St., Worcester. Her Funeral will be held on Thursday, April 25, from the funeral home, with a Mass at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 1290 Grafton St., Worcester. Interment will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton.
     In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to UMass Memorial Foundation, earmark Child Life Program, 55 Lake Ave. North, Worcester, MA 01655, in honor of Charlotte Ruby, Edith’s great granddaughter, who is in remission from leukemia.
