Subscription Update Obituary

Dorothy R. (DeCaro) Morano, of Worcester passed away peacefully Tuesday, December 6, 2011, with family by her side after a period of declining health.

Dorothy’s husband Joseph Morano passed away in 2001. She is survived by her devoted family: her son, Joseph Morano, Jr. and his wife Kathy in Illinois; her daughter, Carolyn Holmes and her husband Brad of Holden; two sisters, Ruth Boudreau of Worcester and Rita “Santa” Simone of Shrewsbury; four grandchildren; many nieces, nephews extended family and friends.

Dorothy was born in Worcester, one of eight children born to Cosimo and Virginia (Cozzolino) DeCaro. She graduated from Commerce High, attended Becker Junior College and has lived here all her life.

Dorothy worked as a bookkeeper for Vans Paint and Wallpaper several years before retiring.

She was an active member and volunteer for St. Andrew the Apostle Church. A simple, quiet woman who was all about family and her heritage. Her husband, children and grandchildren were her life’s inspiration and enjoyment. Dorothy’s greatest moments were spent in their company.

Funeral services and burial are private. There are no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to the Jewish HealthCare Center, Fifth floor, 629 Salisbury St., Worcester 01605. MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. is honored to be assisting the family with arrangements.
