Subscription Update Obituary

   Dorothy R. (Smith) Christie, 88, of Barber Avenue, formerly of Sears Island Drive in Worcester, went home to be with the Lord, Wednesday, November 21, 2007, at Holy Trinity Nursing and Long Term Care Center. Her husband of thirty-six years, Harry R. Christie pre-deceased her in 1980.

   Dorothy is survived by three daughters, Gail R. Scoggin and Dorothy R. Womer both of San Antonio, Texas, and Dona R. Kirkorian and her husband George of Auburn; five grandchildren, Jamie, Christopher, Sean, Lisa, and Christie; five great grandchildren, Fiona, Emma, Faith, Darius, and Jewelisa; a brother in law, Thomas Abraham of Pennsylvania; many nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by three sisters, her twin, Doris R. Horton, Ethel Bemis, and Marion Abraham. Dorothy was born in Quincy, Massachusetts, a daughter of Irving and Clara Smith, and graduated from Quincy High School.

   Mrs. Christie worked for many years at Dapol Plastics in Worcester, retiring when they closed. She had previously worked at the Fall River Ship Yard as a payroll clerk, and had been a governess for a prominent Boston family. She was also a very accomplished seamstress. She enjoyed bowling, crocheting, cooking and being with her family and friends.

   Her family would like to extend a very special thank you to everyone at Holy Trinity, for their care, compassion, and friendship.

   The funeral for Dorothy will be held Tuesday, November 27, at 10 a.m. in First Assembly of God Church, 30 Tyler Prentice Road in Worcester. Interment will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Calling hours will be held Monday, November 26 from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. in MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester.

   In lieu of flowers, donation in her memory may be made to First Assembly of God, Senior Citizens Food Pantry, 30 Tyler Prentice Road, Worcester, MA 01605.
