Subscription Update Obituary

Dorothy Lachapelle Friend, 77, died Sunday, May 29, 2011 in St.Vincent Hospital.

She is predeceased by her first husband David N. Lachapelle in 1974 and her husband Thomas Friend in 1995.

She leaves two sons, David F. Lachapelle & his wife Maureen of East Brookfield and James E. Lachapelle of Southbridge; three grandchildren, David F. Jr., Corey and Mikaela. She was predeceased by two brothers, William & Peter Rice and a sister Shirley Rice.

Dorothy was born in Worcester, MA and moved to Spencer in 1962. She worked for N. Lachapelle & Sons in Spencer and was a waitress for many years at various area restaurants.

She liked knitting, collecting Elvis memorabilia and cheering on her favorite team the Red Sox. She enjoyed cooking and all enjoyed her peanut butter fudge. She will be sadly missed especially at “tea time”.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a calling hour on Saturday, June 4, 2011 from 10-11 AM in Pillsbury Funeral Home, 163 Main St., Spencer. The funeral service will follow at 11:00 AM in the funeral home. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton. Please omit flowers. Donations may be made in memory to the East Brookfield Baptist Church, TTL Youth Group, 262 Main St., East Brookfield, MA 01515.
