   Doris M. (Van Slyke) Hopkins McManus, 92, formerly of Chadwick Street, died Saturday, March 1, 2008 in Holden Nursing Home.

   Her husband, Edward L. McManus died in 1972. She leaves her son, Harold (Harry) Hopkins and his wife Marilyn of Holden; three grandchildren, Christina M. Matthews and her husband Jeffrey of Brunswick, ME, Colleen C. and her husband William Blair of Rutland, and Annemarie F. Sachse and her husband Robert of Holden; a sister, Ruth Grady of Holden; 9 great grandchildren, Elizabeth, Harrison, Patrick, Charles and Anna of Brunswick, ME, Jackson and Carly of Rutland, and Hannah and Eric of Holden. Born in Worcester, the daughter of Albert and Myrtle (Hoag) Van Slyke, she lived 20 years in Holden.

   Doris was a nurse for over 30 years at Worcester State Hospital. She volunteered at St. Paul's Outreach in Worcester, and was a member of St. Mary's Church, Chaffins Women's Club, the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 204 in West Boylston as well as its Chairman of Americanism, and President of the Colony Council.

   The funeral will be held on Wednesday, March 5th from the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden with a Mass at 11:00 a.m. in St. Mary's Church, 114 Princeton Street, Jefferson. Burial will follow at Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. A calling hour will be held from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 5th in the funeral home. Please omit flowers.
