Doris (Carr) Flannery, 95, formerly of Wachusett St., died peacefully on Saturday, January 9, 2010 at St. Mary’s Healthcare Center, 39 Queen St. Her husband of 39 years, William Flannery, Sr. died in 1976.

    She leaves 4 sons, William Flannery and his wife Helen of Auburn, John Flannery and his wife Jean of Spencer, Dennis Flannery and his wife Gail of Albany, NY, Lee Flannery of Harvest, AL; 12 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. Her sister, Vera Hayes, predeceased her.

    She was born in Westerly, RI, daughter of the late John C. and Hannah E. (Watson) Carr. She lived most of her life in Worcester and was a 1932 graduate of the former Commerce High School.

    Doris worked as an accounting clerk for 20 years at Worcester Mutual Fire Insurance, later known as State Mutual Life Insurance Co., retiring in 1979. She was a long time member of St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church. She enjoyed travelling, baking and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

    There are no calling hours. After cremation, a Memorial Service and burial of ashes in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton, MA, will be at the convenience of the family. Kelly Funeral Home, 154 Lincoln St., is assisting the family with arrangements.
