Subscription Update Obituary

Donald R. Baker, Sr. 84, of Shrewsbury formerly of Bird St., Worcester passed away Monday, October 3rd 2011, with his devoted family at his side.

Donald was born in Worcester a son of Louis and Donalda (Robidoux) Baker. He grew up in Worcester, joined the U.S. Navy to serve his country during World War II and has lived here all his life before moving to Shrewsbury over 5 years ago.

Donald’s wife of 53 years, Evelyn V. (Rogiers) Baker passed away in 2002. He is survived by his son Donald R. Baker, Jr. and his wife Mary of Worcester; his longtime companion, Nicola Wyman; a cherished granddaughter Tanya Baker; several nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. A brother, Raymond Baker and a sister Louise Larson predeceased him.

Donald worked over 20 years for the Teamsters Local 170 at New England Grocers before retiring.

He was a member of St. Anne’s Church, and the Teamsters Local 170 Union. He was a musician who most enjoyed playing the organ many years at Falcetti’s Music.

The funeral will be held Thursday, October 6th from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St with a Mass at 11:30 am in St. Anne’s Church, 130 Boston Turnpike Rd. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton. A period of calling hours will be held from 10:00 am to 11:00 am prior to the Mass. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Autumn Village Care Center, 25 Oriol Dr., Worcester 01605.
