Donald was born in Worcester, the son of the late Edward and Blanche (Mulhern) Richmond. He graduated from Commerce High School. Following high school, Donald proudly served his country during the Korean War in the United States Navy on the USS Hutchins 360. Donald was the owner and operator of 3D Painting where he worked with his sons. He had also worked for many years as part of the United Automobile Association for General Motors.
Donald was the “Legend” of Grafton Hill. Known to many and famous for his several stops visits.
Donald was also renowned for playing softball and nothing else came first, but his family truly knew he loved them more than anything. He cherished spending time with family and never missed a birthday or gathering. Donald was a clean car freak and was an avid New York Yankees fan. He enjoyed the love of the game and getting to experience the games with his whole family; with the exception of Don and Deb, Red Sox fans, of course, but it was always a great rivalry.
Donald loved to play his daily numbers, scratch tickets and Keno.
Donald is survived by his loving children, Donald E. Richmond, Jr. and his wife Susan of Worcester, Daniel J. Richmond of Auburn, Diane Manzello and her husband Stephen of Myrtle Beach, SC, Deborah Belinskas and her husband Frederick of Mechanicsburg, PA. and Denise Richmond of Auburn; his adored fourteen grandchildren; his dear nineteen great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and many friends. He was predeceased by an infant daughter, Deborah Ann Richmond; and a sister, Janice LaPierre.
The family would like to say a special thank you to VNA Hospice for the exceptional care they had provided in this very difficult time.
Calling hours for Donald will be held on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, from 9:30 am until his Funeral Service beginning for 11:30 am in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St., Worcester. Interment will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Donald’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the Veterans Association of America.
