Subscription Update Obituary

Daniel W. Cullen, 41, of Deal Island, MD, and formerly of West Brookfield, died on Friday, September 23, 2022 at his home after a brief illness.

Daniel leaves his parents, Wayne C. and Priscilla A. (Magnusson) Cullen of West Brookfield; his sister, Kristie L. Boothroyd, and her husband Shawn; niece and nephew, Emma and Ethan of South Windsor, CT; aunts, Susan Cameron and her husband William and Linda Cullen; uncles, Philip Magnusson and wife Honee Hess and Stephen Cullen and wife Lori. He also leaves behind eleven cousins.

Daniel was born in Worcester on February 10, 1981. He was a thoughtful, sweet, and kind young man, loved dearly by family and friends.

He received his BS degree at UMM and his MS and PhD degrees in Marine Science from UMES. He was committed to research and mentoring. Under a grant through NOAA for the University of Maryland Eastern Shore, he conducted research and taught at the university. His research was published in several scientific journals.

Daniel enjoyed nature, anthropology, collecting bones to study, and subscribed to the Salmon Wildlife Organization and WWF. He loved fishing and was an avid outdoorsman.

Services for Daniel will be held privately. Varnum Funeral Home, 43 E. Main St., in West Brookfield is assisting his family with arrangements.
