Subscription Update Obituary

HOLDEN – Charles R. Holmes, 51, of 106 Pilgrim Drive died Friday in St. Vincent Hospital, Worcester.

As an alumnus of Boston University and the Bentley School of Accounting, he was a senior accountant for the Boston Accounting firm of Robert, Finnegan and Lyniah before joining Norton Company in Worcester where he worked for 23 years as a financial specialist. He joined Norton Company as a staff accountant in 1956, later serving as credit manager, assistant controller, controller, and manager of Norton’s accounting services.

He leaves his wife, Mary (Gallagher) Holmes; three daughters, Christine, wife of George J. Flanagan of Billerica, Karen, wife of Kevin C. Ronayne of Worcester, and Nancy A. Holmes of Holden; his mother, Helen V. (Campbell) Holmes of Somerville; a sister, June, wife of Edward Gordon of Pompano Beach, Fla; his maternal grandmother: Elizabeth Campbell of Somerville, and three granddaughters.

He was born in Cambridge. His father was the late George Holmes. He was a World War II Navy veteran.

He lived in Needham before moving to Holden eight years ago. Mr. Holmes was a member of St. George’s parish in Worcester.

Funeral services will be held from Caswell-King Funeral Home, 1147 Main St. Calling hours at the funeral home are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on April 29 with a Mass at 10:00 a.m. in St. George’s Church, 40 Brattleboro St., Worcester on April 30. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton.
