Subscription Update Obituary

   Charles F. Murphy, 83, of Tatnuck Park, died Monday, June 16th in UMass-Memorial Hospital.

   He leaves his wife of 53 years, Elizabeth L. "Betty" Ferguson Murphy; a son, Charles P. Murphy and his wife Christine of Oxford; a daughter, Cindy J. Donahue and her husband Paul of West Boylston; a sister, Rita Fitzgerald of Windsor, CT; 5 grandchildren; Michael, Nicole and Sean Murphy, Kerry Donahue and Airman 1st Class James Donahue, currently serving overseas, and his wife Mallory; a great grandson, Owen Montague; and nephews and nieces.

   He was born in Worcester, the son of John W. and Louise E. (Gately) Murphy and graduated from the former High School of Commerce and New England School of Accounting. For a time, he worked for New England Power Company before becoming a Firefighter for the City of Worcester. He retired in 1990 after 34 years of service to the city. Mr. Murphy served with the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II. He enjoyed watching and sharing his views on the Red Sox.

   The funeral is Friday, June 20th from O'CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, with a Mass at 10:00 A.M. in Christ the King Church, 1052 Pleasant Street. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Calling hours are Thursday, June 19th from 4 to 7 PM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Susan G.
