Subscription Update Obituary

   Carmine F. Meola, Sr., 76, died Mon., Jan 12 after a brief illness, in UMASS Medical Center surrounded by his loving wife and children.

   He leaves his wife of 54 years, Joan A. (Giangrande) Meola; five children, Linda A. Meola and her longtime companion Eugenio Vega of Worc., Nancy Mott and her husband Andy of No. Oxford, Carmine F. Meola, Jr. of W. Boylston, Andrew D. Meola and his wife Rebecca of Oxford and MaryJean Harvey-Meola of Barre. A son, Gary P. Meola predeceased him on April 13, 2006. He also leaves twelve grandchildren, three great grandchildren; three brothers, Chris Meola and James Meola of W. Boylston and Raymond Meola of W. Palm Beach, FL; two sisters, Marie Leonard of W. Boylston and Elizabeth Foley of Worc.; several nephews and nieces. A brother George Meola also predeceased him.

   He was born in Worcester, son of Christy and Gladys (Dickie) Meola and graduated from Major Edwards High School. Carmine retired from the West Boylston Housing Department in 1995 and prior to that he was self employed. He was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel-St. Ann Church and was a 3rd Degree Mason where he was once treasurer of his lodge.

   The funeral will be held Fri., Jan. 16 from FAY BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 1 West Boylston St., West Boylston, with a Mass at 11AM in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel-St. Ann Church, 24 Mulberry Street, Worcester. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Visiting hours are Thurs., Jan. 15 from 5-8 PM in the funeral home.
