Subscription Update Obituary

     Carlyle O. “Carl” Wray, 74, of Beach Acres, Wells, Maine, formerly of Elizabeth Street, North Grafton, died Thursday in his home after a short illness. He leaves his wife of 45 years, Leona (Menoche) Wray; two daughters, Elizabeth, wife of David Clark of Auburn and Susan, wife of David Sommers of Marietta, Ga; a stepson and wife, Wesley Stevens Jr. (Judith) of Charlton; a sister, Helen Olson of Worcester; eight grandchildren; a great-grandson; and four nieces.

     He was born in Worcester, son of William J. and Astrid L. (Hammarstrom) Wray, and was raised in Spencer. He then lived 28 years in North Grafton before moving to Maine in 1980. He attended David Prouty High School in Spencer. Mr. Wray was a supervisor in the metallurgy laboratory at Wyman Gordon Company in Worcester and North Grafton, where he worked for more than 40 years. He retired in 1980. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. Mr. Wray was a member of Spencer Lodge of Masons. He was a longtime volunteer at York Hospital in Maine.

     Funeral services will be held at 11a.m. Monday in Wallace Funeral Home, 91 Central St., Auburn. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Calling hours at Bibber Memorial Chapel, Lower Bragdon Road, Wells, Maine, are 2 to4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today. Calling hours at Wallace Funeral Home, Auburn, Ma are 10 to 11 a.m. Monday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to York Hospital, 15 Hospital Drive, York, Maine 03909.
