Blanche (Poissant) Belisle, 79, of 128 Russell Street died yesterday in her home after an illness.

She leaves her husband, Dr. Alfred N. Belisle; three daughters, Cecile B. Champagne of Taylor, PA, Diane B. Birch of Worcester, and Estelle O. Belisle of Fairfax, VA, and three grandchildren, Courtney A. Birch and James W. Birch, Jr. of Worcester and Robert R. Champagne of Taylor, PA. Dr. and Mrs. Belisle observed their 48th wedding anniversary in January. Born in Lonsdale, RI, she was a daughter of J. Albani and Cecile (Sicotte) Poissant and moved to Worcester in 1940.

She attended St. Anne’s Academy in Marlboro, and graduated from Kinyon’s Business School in Pawtucket, RI. Mrs. Belisle was a member of les Dames de la Sainte Famille, and Artisans Society, Notre Dame des Canadiens Branch 171. She was a former paymaster at Notre Dame des Canadiens parish bingo, a former lector at Notre Dame des Canadiens Church, a former travel chairman and director of the Bancroft Chapter, American Association of Retired Persons, and a former vice president of le Cercle Jeanne Mance.

The funeral will be Thursday from Rice Funeral Home, 300 Park Avenue, with a Mass at 10 a.m. in Notre Dame des Canadiens Church, 5 Salem Square. Burial will be in Worcester Memorial Park, Paxton. Calling hours at the funeral home are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow. The family requests that flowers be omitted.
