Betty Ann (Ormon) Carpenter, 86, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, July 16 at Care One Millbury. Her husband of 58 years, John F. Carpenter Sr., predeceased her in 2018.

Betty was born and raised in Worcester, the daughter of the late Everett and Elizabeth T. (Lenihan) Ormon and lived the last 55 years in Auburn. She graduated from Commerce High School in 1956 and dedicated many years to Family Services of Central Massachusetts while also lovingly raising her family.

Known for her generous heart, she placed her family at the center of her life. She and her husband volunteered together for many years at Meals-On-Wheels in Auburn. She loved long car rides, Engelbert Humperdinck concerts, and a good Hallmark movie. She enjoyed travel throughout the USA, but particularly enjoyed her first-class upgrade on a flight to Hawaii to visit her daughter who was on a travel nurse assignment there. Her one and only stamp in her passport was received on her trip to Ireland with her husband and youngest son.

Betty Ann is survived by her children; Cheryl A. Carpenter-Emery and her husband, Russ of Concord, CA, John F. Carpenter, Jr. of Venice, FL, Kevin P. Carpenter and his wife, Kathleen of Randolph, Joseph E. Carpenter and his wife, Cynthia of Leicester, and Daniel Carpenter of Auburn. She was a devoted grandmother to Justin, Sarah, Conner, Alexandra, Andrew, Patrick, Erin, Alysse, and Adam, and great-grandmother to Ame Ame, Aeon, and Aria. She also leaves many nieces, nephews, and her sister-in-law Sister Helen Carpenter of the Maryknoll Sisters, Ossining, NY. She was predeceased by her brother, William E. Ormon.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Betty’s family on Friday, August 2 from 5-8 PM at Kelly Cremation & Funeral Care, 154 Lincoln Street, Worcester. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, August 3, 2024, at 10 AM at St. Joseph’s Church, Auburn. Immediately following the Mass, internment will take place at Worcester County Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to Kateri’s Kitchen Food Pantry at North American Martyrs Church or to the Auburn Historical Society.
