Subscription Update Obituary

    Bernard J. Grimley, Sr., 86, of Worcester, died Monday, February 21, 2011 in Blaire House. His wife of 43 years, Rosalie B. (Grzybowski) Grimley, died in 1993.

    He leaves four sons: Bernard J. Grimley, Jr. of Devens, James M. Grimley and his wife Pamela of Las Vegas, NV, John J. Grimley and his wife Diana, and Philip P. Grimley and his wife Debra, all of Worcester; three daughters: Nancy A. Perry and her husband Robert of Spencer, Karen M. Bearce and her husband Wayne of Framingham, and Mary J. Tomasello and her husband Vincent of Barre; a sister, June J. Curran of Worcester; nine grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by two brothers, Edward L. Grimley, Jr. and Stephen Grimley.

    He was born in Leominster, the son of Edward L. and Ethel (Gregoire) Grimley and graduated from South High School and Worcester Junior College, both in Worcester. Mr. Grimley was an engineer for the Rice Barton Company and later was a machinist for many years before retiring. He was a World War II U.S. Navy veteran, was a member of Our Lady of the Angels Church, and a charter member of the American Legion Main South Post 341. He was a longtime coach for the Ty Cobb Little League and was an avid reader.

    The funeral is Monday, February 28th from O'CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue, with a Mass at 10:00 A.M. in Our Lady of the Angels Church, 1222 Main Street. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Calling hours are Sunday, February 27th from 2:00 until 5:00 P.M. in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Society, c/o Our Lady of the Angels Church, 1222 Main Street, Worcester, MA 01603.
