Subscription Update Obituary

Beatrice Louise (Bedard) Pruneau passed away on August 9, 2025 at the Oakdale Rehabilitation Center. 

Bea was born in Worcester on July 21, 1931, the youngest of four daughters of Henry C. and Lillian V. (Werme) Bedard.  She was a graduate of Commerce High School in Worcester.

Bea was employed at Norton Company in Worcester for many years.  She was the manager of the company’s credit union which became a branch of the Webster First Credit Union before she retired. 

Bea was a master of both crossword and jigsaw puzzles. 

Bea enjoyed her family more than anything.  Family meant everything to her.  She was proud of the many accomplishments of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Bea’s husband of 70 years, Albert J. Pruneau, died in 2021.  She was also predeceased by her son Joseph in 2002, and her sisters Dorothy Morse, Gertrude Bailey and Marie Foty.

She is survived by her daughters Gayle (Pruneau) McAuliffe and her husband Gerald of Holden, and Susan (Pruneau) Marino and her husband Robert of Auburn; and her grandchildren, Michael and Corey Marino, Christopher and Ryan Miller, and Shannon (McAuliffe) Glick. She also leaves many cherished great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.      

Bea’s family wish to thank the many skilled caregivers of the Oakdale Center and Jewish Healthcare Hospice for the dignified care they provided with deep kindness and affection. 

Family and friends are invited to calling hours, Tuesday, August 12, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Athy Memorial Home, 111 Lancaster St., Worcester.  The funeral will be Wednesday, August 13, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Mary’s Church, 114 Princeton St., Jefferson.  Burial will follow at Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Resident Activity Fund at Oakdale Rehabilitation Center, 76 North Main St., West Boylston, MA 01583.
