Subscription Update Obituary

Barbara M. Kelly, 82, formerly of Millbury, died Thursday, March 24, 2011 in the Coleman House, Northborough after an illness. Her husband Francis G. “Jerry” Kelly died in 2004.

She leaves her two sisters; Caroline A. Chumsae, and her husband Raymond of Shrewsbury, and Janice Dussault, and her husband Merrill of Northborough, and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her brother Richard Murray.

Mrs. Kelly was born in Worcester; she was the daughter of the late Edward and Anna (West) Murray. She was educated in Worcester schools.

Mrs. Kelly worked as a secretary for several area companies including the former Harrington and Richardson Arms, Co. She later became involved in politics. She was a member of the MSAC from 1993; she helped lead the Central Mass Chapter with her knowledge of local and state politics. During her term as chapter president, she was instrumental in leading fundraising efforts to build a new Senior Center in Worcester. Along with her husband Jerry she was a strong advocate for the single payer system, and started a petition to help seniors remain in their homes while living on a fixed income.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours from 4-7 PM Monday March 28, 2011 in the Britton-Shrewsbury Funeral Home, 648 Main Street. Her funeral will be held Tuesday, March 29, 2011 from the funeral home with a Mass at 10 AM in St. John’s Church, 44 Temple St., Worcester. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park.
