Barbara Emma (Warren) Shonbeck, 85, formerly of Auburn went to be home with the lord Tuesday December 2 2008. She passed away in Mary Lyon Nursing and Rehab Center in Hamden, after an illness.

She is survived by her children, Susan Swenson, of Wales, Margaret Flynn of Cape Cod, Paul Shonbeck of Worcester, and George Shonbeck of Milford. She leaves 10 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Her husband Eric G. Shonbeck died in 1987.

Mrs. Shonbeck was born in Worcester; she was the daughter of the late Ralph and Esther (Skantz) Warren and was educated in Worcester schools.

Mrs. Shonbeck was a homemaker. She also had worked for Newbury's Department Store, the Casual Male, and Depaul Plastics.

She was a member of the First Congregational Church of Auburn, and the Auburn Grange.

She loved to go out dancing, sit in her rocking chair knitting, and bowling with her cousins. She especially enjoyed camping and spending her time doing word searches.

Her funeral service will be held Saturday at 10 AM in the First Congregational Church, 128 Central St., Auburn. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park.
